Facts and Figures The City of Hallsville, Missouri is a thriving community located 12 miles north of Columbia, Missouri and 8 miles south of Centralia, Missouri. This information is presented to give you the opportunity to discover the pertinent facts about our community that will aid you in your decision making process.
Government The City of Hallsville is governed by a group of four elected members of the Hallsville Board of Aldermen. These officials are led by our elected Mayor who presides over the monthly meetings. The Mayor and Board of Aldermen serve as representatives for their constituents and make decisions in regards to all matters concerning the community. 

To assist the Mayor and Board of Aldermen in their decision making there are a number of boards, whose members are appointed to their positions by the Board of Aldermen. These boards include the Planning and Zoning Commission, Planning and Zoning Board of Adjustments, the Park Board, Cable Quality Commission and Tree Board.

Demographics Our City is called home by over 1,200 residents who come from all walks of life and represent any number of age groups, nationalities, religions and ethnic backgrounds. We have subsidized housing available for the physically impaired, elderly and financially needy along with areas set aside to cater to the elderly. There are a total of six churches within a three mile radius of our city and the community has proven time and time again to be the "Small Community With A Big Heart". You will find the level of support and cooperation within the community to be unequaled by any other. 

Located within the City of Hallsville are approximately 470 households ranging from single family dwellings to multifamily housing and a recently renovated mobile home park which houses 68 owner-occupied residences in itself This total in no way encompasses the development in the surrounding area which consists of a number of subdivisions and rural housing.

Public Services

The City of Hallsville is served by a number of public services, incorporated within its internal structure. Within the city itself you will find the Public Works Department which is responsible for water and sewer service, road maintenance and maintenance of all city owned or controlled property. The Office of the City Clerk is responsible for the actual day to day operations and handling of utility billing, accounting, license issuance, scheduling and a number of other services required for our city to run efficiently. The Hallsville Police Department is responsible for the safety and security of our community and handles all calls for service within the city. Located within the police department is a substation for the Boone County Sheriff's Department. 

Fire protection is provided to the city by the Boone County Fire Protection District and we have a number of dedicated firefighters residing within the city itself.  Currently, water and sewer service is provided by the City of Hallsville, telephone service is provided by GTE and electrical and natural gas service is handled by AmerenUE. Cable television service is currently provided by Galaxy Cablevision and trash service is provided by Superior Services. The City of Hallsville also utilizes recycling programs with a drop-off recycling dumpster provided by the County of Boone and semimonthly curbside service provided by Superior Services. 
 

Location The City of Hallsville is located near the heart of Mid-Missouri being situated 12 miles north of 1-70 and 6 miles east of U.S. 63. The city is served by four 2-lane state maintained highways that intersect at the center of our city. Due to the unique location provided by this State of Missouri 1-fighway Department infrastructure, we are visited on a daily basis by thousands of commuters as they pass to and from their places of employment. 

Rail service is provided to the City of Hallsville by the COLT (Columbia Terminal), which provides an excellent resource for industrial and business transportation alternatives.

Public Education The Hallsville Public Schools educate approximately 1,200 students from the grades of pre-kindergarten through the 12th grade.  Also available to the community are a number of day-care providers to assist in the care and education of preschool age children.
Summary The City of Hallsville is a growing community that is in the process of expanding its boundaries and services in the Mid-Missouri area. The leadership in local government is growth oriented and is very supportive of any expansion that would tend to improve the quality of life for the citizens and area residents.
