Teacher Guide
This webquest was developed as a part of my Missouri's eMINTS Year 1 and 2 training during the 2205-2007 school years. You are
welcome to adapt this webquest to fit your own curriculum needs and post to a different web site. I would appreciate an e-mail from you regarding the changes you have made. You can contact me at dblevins@hallsville.org Your feedback is always welcome and appreciated. "The Rainforest WebQuest" was designed as part of a third grade social studies lesson on different cultures and habitats. Students work in cooperative learning groups of four students to study a different culture and habitat, develop a persuasive presentation, and make an oral presentation of their PowerPoint presentation.
Learners
This inquiry based lesson in third grade social studies and science involves communication arts when developing their PowerPoint presentation and math skills when developing their Excel graph. If students are not familiar with these programs, the teacher may need to modify this lesson with the programs her students are familiar with. Students should be familiar with PowerPoint and Excel in order to complete this web quest. If students are not familiar with these programs, a report could be substituted for the PowerPoint presentation and a circle graph on paper could be substituted for the Excel graph. Extra time may be necessary if students are learning these programs while completing the web quest.
