The Process
First,
you and your group will do research about the four famous Americans. Each of you will become an expert on
your famous American by taking notes on the following websites. Read through the websites listed for
Helen Keller, Harriet Tubman, Martin Luther King, Jr. and Thomas Edison to
answer the questions below.
Click here to view your questions and directions. After you have finished your questions, get a copy of the map and follow the directions to find the treasure Now that you have found where
your treasure lies, you and your partner need to construct a memorial to one
of the four people we've studied. Your memorial could be a poster,
mural, presentation or some other type of display that can be shown at the
building where the treasure is. Be sure your display includes reference to at
least 3 major accomplishments of the person you chose and why it was
important. These things should be mentioned when presenting your
Memorial to the class. In all classes, there is a student or two who love to go the extra mile. For just such a case, an Extended Activity was designed. The students will be asked to re-create a similar activity for someone else to do. They will need to research their own famous American, design questions, answers, and a map to navigate through. |
