Water Safety for Kids

Swimming is a lot of fun and a great way to exercise, but there are some important things we need to remember when we go swimming.

Below are some rules we need to follow so we can stay safe and still have fun.

 

- Only swim when there is an adult or lifeguard with you.

- Always obey the rules at a pool or beach.

- Never run near the pool.

- Wear sunscreen.

- Learn to swim. Take lessons. You'll be able to have more fun when you do go swimming.

 

 

Don't Be A Couch Potato!

Are you a couch potato? A couch potato is someone that would rather sit around and watch TV and play video games instead of getting up and doing something. TV and video games can be fun, but we need to move our bodies to keep them healthy. Playing and exercising keeps our bones and muscles strong. So turn off that TV and get moving! Don't be a couch potato!

 

 

Healthy Snacks

When we get hungry between meals and need a snack, what types of foods do we usually eat? Many kids reach for junk foods or soda pop. Although these types of foods may taste good, we shouldn't eat them very often. Most of the time, we need to reach for healthy snacks. Foods like fruits, vegetables, nuts, and sandwiches make great snacks. They fill you up with energy and are much better for you than junk foods. And try washing them down with milk or water.
