eMINTS locations in Missouri
Since
1999-2000 Hallsville R-IV Schools have been participating in the
exciting eMINTS program. We started with one 3rd grade and one 4th grade classroom. Through the years, we have expanded the program through participation in grants as well as local district funding. We currently have all of our 3rd grade and 4th
grade classrooms, Intermediate Science and 8th grade Science designed
for this program. These classrooms are set up with special technology
equipment including 12 student computers, a teacher workstation,
scanner, color printer, digital camera, and a SMARTboard. There is
ongoing teacher support and training to infuse the technology into our
current curriculum and increase effective inquiry based learning.
In the 2006-2007 school year Hallsville
added a new position for a K-12 Educational Technology Specialist to
support learning through technology at all levels of the
district. A dozen elementary and middle school teachers
participated in 3-day web page development workshops over the
summer. We expanded eMINTS into two more 4th grade classrooms and
one more 3rd grade room.
In the 2007-2008 school year we added one more 3rd grade eMINTS and
another 4th grade eMINTS classroom. This put all 3rd and 4th
grade rooms as full eMINTS. We also put SMARTboards and
projectors and provided eMINTS4All training for 4 more middle school
classrooms and 7 high school classrooms. We applied for and were
awarded eMINTS/METS grants to put full eMINTS in one 5th grade and one
8th grade science classrooms.
In 2008-2009 we continued the training for
the eMINTS and eMINTS4All teachers in the Intermediate, Middle and High
schools. Four more middle school and 2 more high school eMINTS4All classrooms were added. 2009-2010 brought eMINTS to special education classrooms in the Intermediate, Middle and High Schools.
Hallsville is continuing to expand eMINTS through teacher professional
development and a commitment to classroom teaching strategies. We are
committed to quality learning and best teaching practices.
Technology is an important part of that commitment.
