Introduction
This webquest
was developed as an inquiry based lesson as a part of Missouri's eMINTS
project. You are welcome to adapt it for use with your students.
If you make changes and post it on a different web site, please contact
me. I'd like to see your changes and learn from your use of the
lesson. Any feedback is welcome.
"power!
power!
We need more power!"
was
developed in March 2001 as a 3rd grade science lesson on energy and energy
resources. In this webquest, students work in cooperative groups
of four to study basic concepts about energy, analyze different sources
of energy, and develop a persuasive presentation.
Learners
This lesson is anchored
in third grade science and involves communication arts and social studies
to a lesser extent. It can easily be extended to upper grade levels
in these subject areas as well.
It is assumed that
the learners have some prior experience in gathering information from the
Internet and in producing presentations using programs such as PowerPoint,
HyperStudio, or Dreamweaver. If students are not familiar with
one of these programs, the teacher may need to modify the lesson to provide
for other forms of reports or provide extra support and instruction to
students as they learn to use one of the listed modes of presenting.
