To All Substitute Teachers:

I want to invite you to apply to substitute teach in the Hallsville R-IV School District this year. Every position in our school system contributes a very critical and important element to the success of our students. We thank you for your interest in our district. There are a few salient points that we need to discuss and I hope this may help answer questions that you may have as well.

PAY RATE/HOURS/ETC.

We pay $75 per day for substitute teachers. Our school day is approximately 6.5 hours long. A full day is considered to be 4 hours or more. Any amount of time less than 4 hours will be paid as a half day, $37.50. We do not have an hourly rate. Long term subbing (in the same classroom 10 consecutive days) will pay $90 per day. Currently, there are 4 building levels in the district: Primary (Pre-K-1), Elementary (2-5), Middle School (Grades 6-8) and High School (Grades 9-12).

FBI FINGERPRINT/BACKGROUND CHECKS

As a substitute teacher, you need a background check for 2 specific reasons:

1. To be a certified substitute.

2. As a new employee to the school district.

*If you had the fingerprint check last year, obtained a substitute certificate and substituted at Hallsville; you will not need to do this again this year to work at Hallsville.

*If you were a certified sub last year and never subbed at Hallsville, you need a new fingerprint check as a new employee.

*If your last fingerprint check was within the last 6 months, you do not have to do it again.

*If you are a Hallsville retired teacher, you do not have to do the fingerprint check.

*If you are a retired teacher from another district and have never taught at Hallsville, you need to do this as a new employee.

FORM S

This is a form required by DESE (the Missouri state department of education) to be completed by each applicant on a yearly basis. This form is maintained by the district for review by DESE if requested.

HALLSVILLE SUBSTITUTE TEACHING APPLICATION

This is a form required by Hallsville to be completed by each applicant on a yearly basis. This form is maintained by the district.

COLLEGE TRANSCRIPTS

DESE requires that substitute teachers have a minimum of 60 college hours in order to be certified. We need a copy of your college transcripts on file.

Direct Deposit Form (Hallsville pays all substitutes in this method, no exceptions)

FBI Fingerprint/Background Check Information (You must make your own appointment and pay your fee, $50.95 to Identix)
