This course will introduce students to the areas of small and large animal production, plants, trees, wildlife and outdoor recreation. Students will also be introduced to FFA and encouraged to participate.

Topics of study include: nutrition, genetics, anatomy, animal care and reproduction, growing plants, floral design, conservation and forestry. FFA participation will be encouraged.
Prerequisite: C or better both semesters of Introduction to Plants, Animals and the Outdoors and Instructor approval

- 9005 Floral and Plant Design (Grade: 10-12; Credit: 2)
If you like working with flowers and plants and are creative, this class is for you! Create a wide variety of floral design styles using fresh, silk and dried plant materials for all major holidays, weddings and everyday occasions. FFA participation will be encouraged.

If you enjoyed Floral and Plant Design and would like to gain experience in managing a floral shop, then look into this practical course. Gain experience in advanced design while operating/managing a flower shop through plant and flower sales. Set up store displays, price products, determine profit and use business communications and marketing skills. A community flower shop internship is required. FFA participation will be encouraged.
Prerequisite: C or better both semesters in Floral and Plant Design and Instructor approval, transportation for Internship, plant allergy free.

Explore the wide variety of exciting careers relating to the landscaping industry. Topics will include plant science, plant identification, landscape design and installation, and turf management. Some outdoor work will be required.

This course is designed for the student who wishes to build upon what was learned in the Animal & Veterinary Science course. Major units of study include leadership, animal care, laboratory procedures, livestock management, judging, fitting/showing, food science, poultry, agricultural records and FFA leadership. FFA participation will be encouraged.
Dual Credit Available with Central Missouri State University
Prerequisite: B or better both semesters in Animal and Veterinary Science and Instructor approval; 80% mastery on Essential Skills and 80% mastery on Career Center Expectations.

- 9065 Plant and Animal Biotechnology/Genetics (Grade: 11-12; Credit: 1)
This course is recommended for students thinking about a career in plant research, veterinary science, genetics, animal husbandry or wildlife biology. This agri-science course provides instruction in the areas of plant and animal genetics, DNA extraction; electrophoresis - DNA fingerprinting; reproductive physiology; basic embryo transfer and cryogenics; artificial insemination; fish production and plant tissue culturing and research. FFA participation will be encouraged.
Prerequisite: B or better both semesters in Biology
