Electronics
- 9750 Electronic Essentials (Grade: 10-12; Credit: 1)
Our world has become reliant on electronics. Students will use digital and analog test equipment to analyze the electronic circuits they construct in class. This course also prepares students with the skills and knowledge needed to be informed consumers. Students who are interested in engineering, computer networking, lasers/photonics, or automotive technology should take this course.
Recommended: Junior High Industrial Technology
Follow Up Courses: Electronics 2, Electronics 3, Computer Technician Certification, Network Administration 1, Introduction to Lasers, Photonics, Automotive Technology 1
- 9751 Electronics 1 (Grade: 10-12; Credit: 2)
Electronics 1 is the foundation for understanding and using computers, cars, music, and wireless communications. Students will learn about direct current, alternating current, semiconductors, and digital electronics as they build and explore many hands-on projects. This class will prepare you to become a knowledgeable user of technology and will give you the basic skills needed to design, build and troubleshoot most electronic devices.
Recommended: Enrolled in or completed Algebra 1 or Integrated Math 2 with C or better
Follow Up Courses: Electronics 2, Electronics 3, Computer Technician Certification, Network Administration 1, Introduction to Lasers, Photonics, Automotive Technology 1
- 9752 Electronics 2 (Grade: 11-12; Credit: 2)
Electronics 2 expands your knowledge of DC, AC, semiconductor, and digital electronics with more complicated, in-depth projects than those experienced in Electronics 1. As an advanced student, you will learn to use your knowledge and skills to control everything from robots to lightshows.
Articulated College Credit Available
Prerequisite: C or better both semesters in Electronics 1 or Electronic Essentials and Instructor approval
Follow Up Courses: Electronics 3, Computer Technician Certification, Network Administration 1, Introduction to Lasers, Photonics, Automotive Technology 1
- 9753 Electronics 3 (Grade: 12; Credit: 2)
Electronics 3 students spend the first semester learning microprocessors through hands-on applications. During the second semester, students choose a capstone project to use what has been learned in past electronics classes to design, build and test a true prototype electronic product.
Articulated College Credit Available
Prerequisite: C or better both semesters in Electronics 2 and Instructor approval
