Hallsville High School - Career Center

Lasers

  • 9700 Introduction to Laser Technology (Grade: 10-12; Credit: I)

Use lasers and fiber optics in a practical setting to explore Photonics, one of the fastest growing technical fields. Students will learn how to use lasers to create holograms, engrave, examine forensics, develop light shows, design security systems, and examine other engineering applications.

Follow Up Courses: Photonics 1 and Photonics 2, Electronics Essentials

  • 9701 Photonics 1 (Grade: 11-12; Credit: 2)

The demand for Photonics technicians is one of the fastest growing of all technical positions. This light-based technology explores the physics and control of light with the use of high-tech lab equipment.

Prerequisite: C or better both semesters in Algebra I or Integrated Math 2

Recommended: Electronic Essentials, Electronics 1 Follow Up Courses: Photonics 2, Electronics 1 and 2

  • 9702 Photonics 2 (Grade: 12; Credit: 2)

The demand for precision and efficiency is changing the way industry
is utilizing Photonics and electro-optical technologies. The laser is the tool of choice in most technologies for the 21st century. This class will include more in-depth studies of various aspects of Photonics, including fiber optics, laser diodes and non-linear optics, as well as the development of phoronic solutions for real-world applications.

Articulated College Credit Available

Prerequisite: C or better both semesters in Photonics 1 and Instructor approval
