Quarter Reading Requirements

1st Quarter

Students will read two books on their own and together as a class we will read The Giver by Lois Lowry.

2nd Quarter

Students will read two books on their own and together as a class we will read A Corner of the Universe by Ann M. Martin

3rd Quarter

Students will read two books on their own and students will divide into groups of 4 or 5 for literature circles. Each group will read a different book. Each week the groups will meet and discuss what they read and will all have a page that they will discuss and present to the other group members

4th Quarter

Students will read two books on their own and together as a class we will read The River Between Us by Richard Peck. The first book this quarter will be worth 50 points once the students pass a reading counts test. The second book requirement is a novel poster for 100 points.
