It was nice to see some of you again at conferences. We will be learning more about Thomas Jefferson, the Louisiana Purchase, and Lewis and Clark this week. If you have any questions, please contact me!
It was great to see those of you who stopped by after the student lead conferences. We are retaking our atmosphere test today (Monday) and we will be moving on to our next chapter within the atmosphere. Please let me know if you have any questions or if I can help you in any way. Thanks!
This week we are finishing the Geometry booklet. They are to be turned in on Thursday BEFORE the incentive trip.
This week we are watching A Night to Remember. It is the 1958 version of the sinking of the Titanic. We hopefully will work on dialogue and write a one page paper using dialogue this week, but I am not sure if we will fit it in until after spring break. We will have a vocab test over the Titanic vocabulary on Wednesday. Book #1 is due April 24th - don't forget to remind your student to read over spring break. Have a great week!
Wednesday/Netsmartz: This Wednesday I will be teaching an internet safety course to all of the 7 th grade students. This program is on my website on the Hallsville Middle School webpage. Check it out under “student sites”…Netsmartz.
This week in Reading the students are continuing their literature circle books. They are working on their job: discussion leader, summarizer, journaler or word smith. Each night they are reading at least one chapter from their literature book. Ask your child what they are reading. Advisory: Don’t forget to bring in your boxtops! Have a Good Week! Mrs. P.

There will be two book reports due 4 th quarter. We will be selecting books at level to read independently for these reports. This is a project worth 100 points and should be turned in as their best work, with at least one or two editing processes before it is turned in. The requirements for the book reports are: books at their level or approved by me; do a book report from the list - they cannot repeat a report style or book they have already used; and they cannot use the book we are reading in class as one of the readings.

Math--7th grade--( 1st hour) We have been working on counting with money, and practicing our basic skills with decimals, multiplication, and division when we can. We have also started a review of basic information that is kind of hit or miss. We are reviewing old information and covering new things like fractions, decimals, and many other areas. Last week we finished up our in-class projects working with tangrams and basic origami. We have also started addition, subtraction, and multiplication timed tests. If you could help your child review these facts, that would be great!
