We are continuing our study of weather for this week. We spent the end of last week focusing on clouds and we will begin studying different types of storm like tornadoes, hurricanes and blizzards this week. As always please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns.
Tuesday is the test over Chapter 13, Probability. Wednesday, we are going to be in the computer lab, working on math facts. It is the last day to accumulate points for the banana split in May. Thursday we begin Chapter 7, Linear and Nonlinear Equations.
This week we started our Science Fiction/Fantasy unit. We discussed terms yesterday and today we are reading Monsters are Due on Maple Street. Tomorrow we are watching the Twilight Zone episode and a short quiz will be given over the story and terms related. Thursday will be reading day and we will review some homonyms (there and its) and then have a review quiz on Friday covering all of the homonyms that we have discussed recently. We will do a MAP practice sheet on Friday over setting. I will also hand out the novel poster requirements on Thursday or Friday, if you have any questions, please let me know. The first book is due April 25th for 50 points and the novel poster will be due May 21st for 100 points.
This week we are working on MAP released items for our upcoming MAP test, April 21-24. We have also started a read aloud book entitled Rash by Pete Hautman. Ask your child what independent book they are reading.

We will be working on MAP skills and practice during reading as well as continuing to work and practice skills in the Wilson’s Reading System. In English, we are continuing to work on spelling and vocabulary packets; DOL’s and have tests on Fridays.
There will be two book reports due 4 th quarter. We will be selecting books at level to read independently for these reports. This is a project worth 100 points and should be turned in as their best work, with at least one or two editing processes before it is turned in. The requirements for the book reports are: books at their level or approved by me; do a book report from the list - they cannot repeat a report style or book they have already used; and they cannot use the book we are reading in class as one of the readings.

Communication Arts: Students are continuing to work on MAP released items in preparation for our MAP assessments. We are working on some of these in the computer lab to make it more of an interactive experience. Please, be sure, to boost your child's moral by encouraging them to do their best and believe in themselves! Your support means more than you realize!
Study Skills: Students should continue to write all assignments in their planner and get teacher and parent signatures daily. When we don't have homework to work on, we will review our times tables and work on improving reading comprehension.
We are finishing our Presidential Physical fitness tests and doing make-up/re-do tests after we are done.
Math--7th grade--(1st hour) We are continuing with our unit that reviews basic information. We are reviewing old information and covering new things like fractions, decimals, estimation, order of operations, and many other areas. We are reviewing MAP skills (working with calculators and various charts) and studying for our time tests. If you could help your child review these facts, that would be great!

We will be working on test corrections this week and will also be continuing our review unit of basic information and working on both old and new math skills. Ac Lab-- We are continuing to work on various homework assignments , checking to make sure students fill out and use their planners daily, and turning in work on time. The kids are doing so well! We have seen improvement in so many areas! Encourage your child to keep up the good work!

**GIRLS NIGHT OUT!! Our next meeting on April 3 rd has been POSTPONED due to the track meet. Another date will be set at another time.
Our 7th grade students and team are putting together a Summer Fun Basket to be auctioned off for Relay for Life/American Cancer Society. La st year as a whole the Hallsville Relay for Life team raised over $8,000.00 from all the donations, auctions, etc. If you would like to donate an item to our Summer Fun basket look at the items below. Anything, big or small, would be helpful and appreciated. Just bring them to Jamie Pemberton’s classroom or the Middle School Office and we will pick them up.
