MAP testing! Enough said, see you next week! Coach Hague
This week we are MAP testing. The students have the opportunity to start on their vocabulary packets this week after testing, if they choose. They have them if they want to get a start on them. Book #1 is due this Friday for 50 points. Next week we will start on the novel, A River Between Us by Richard Peck. That will take to the last week of school, when we will work on novel posters and present them. Please let me know if you have any questions.
Book #1 is due Friday by the end of the day. Some kids might need a few minutes to take it Friday morning before we go outside.
This week we are MAP testing April 21-24. We will have a FREE breakfast and snacks every morning for the kids. We have also started a read aloud book entitled Rash by Pete Hautman. Ask your child what independent book they are reading. Have a Great Week! Mrs. P.

We will continue to work and practice skills in the Wilson’s Reading System. In English, we are continuing to work on spelling and vocabulary packets; DOL’s and have tests on Fridays.
There will be two book reports due 4 th quarter. We will be selecting books at level to read independently for these reports. This is a project worth 100 points and should be turned in as their best work, with at least one or two editing processes before it is turned in. The requirements for the book reports are: books at their level or approved by me; do a book report from the list - they cannot repeat a report style or book they have already used; and they cannot use the book we are reading in class as one of the readings.
If you have questions, please contact me. My room is #23 and my extension is #438.

Comm. Arts: This week we are learning the ins and outs of Readers Workshop. Students will be asked to predict, question, and respond to their reading.
Study Skills: 7th Grade Students are beginning to read The 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens. We will spend about ½ the period on homework and the other ½ on the book. This book is a great way to learn positive habits while improving reading skills. Ask you child about it!
Well, it seems the weather might start to cooperate and allow us to go outside. When it does Coach Pemberton's class will start a flag football unit and Coach King's class will start a softball unit. Thanks
