Science Mr. Hague Ext 453 CHague@hallsville.org

Hello again! I hope everyone had a great Holiday weekend. I’ve been picking ticks off ever since I returned from my weekend of working on deer stands and deer camp. We are continuing to discuss the respiratory system this week and we will be testing over it next week. Today we took a quiz and I will be handing those back on Wednesday. I have also decided to make Kahutta day a weekly ritual. We started Kahutta day last Thursday and we will be calling every Thursday Kahutta day. This is a day were we go an extra mile at being courteous, friendly and optimistic. Hopefully this will carry over to every day of the week, but for now it’s on Thursdays. Have a great week!! Coach Hague

Math Mrs. Haes Ext 448 RHaes@hallsville.org

In math this week we are finishing our pre-course work. There will be a homework quiz and vocabulary quiz on Friday. The answers to the homework quiz come straight from the homework notebook problems that we graded this week. There will be a word list for the vocabulary quiz. Your child needs to have their math book covered. You may use a store-bought stretchy one or a brown paper grocery sack. Mrs. Haes needs BROWN PAPER GROCERY SACKS to cover the math books. Please send ASAP!

Language Arts Mrs. Deneke Ext 434 KDeneke@hallsville.org

Mrs. Hicks Ext AHicks@hallsville.org

This week and next week we are working on a short story called "Rikki-Tikki-Tavi". We will work with personification, point of view, transitions, and some writing strategies. Vocabulary is due this Friday for Mrs. Deneke's classes and Thursday for Mrs. Hicks's classes. The vocab test for chapter 1 will be on Friday. Reminder that book #1 is due next Thursday, September 13th.

Reading Mrs. Pemberton Ext 487 JPembert@hallsvill.org

We are currently working on Chapters 7-9 this week in Charlotte's Web. The 10 vocabulary words a week are important to your child's grade. Give them a chance to study their words with you and tell you about the book. All advisory classes are collecting box tops for a chance at winning an ice cream party. Bring in as many as you can!

Special Services Mrs. Fadler Ext 438 Pfadler@hallsville.org

In reading, we continue to review steps 2 and 3 this week. In English, spelling and vocabulary packets 2 are due Friday, and we will also have the quiz over the words on Friday. We are also starting our Daily Oral Language activities. We go to the library every other week and you child will have book report guidelines by Friday.

If you have questions, please contact me. My room is #23 and my extension is #438. Stop in anytime!

Life Skills/Academic Lab Mrs. LaRoe Ext 439 mlaroe@hallsville.org

Life Skills - We made banana splits last Wednesday. This Wednesday we will decorate cupcakes in honor of the September Birthdays. In math, we are still reviewing addition, subtraction, and multiplication. In reading, each one is working on their own skill level. In English, we started to discuss nouns and will continue that study this week. Next week, we add spelling words. In Science, we are learning about plant life and will finish that unit this week and start Animal life. In Social Studies, we have talked about neighborhoods.

Academic Lab-the kids have been working on homework. Fridays are going to be our day to organize and clean out our trappers.

Math/Academic Lab Mrs. Hughes Ext 447 JHughes@hallsville.org

Math:

In Math, we have been working on Pre-Algebra concepts. This will continue over the next several weeks. Some of the concepts are place value, expanded/standard form of numbers, ordering of numbers, and comparing numbers. We will be building on these concepts. Students also have a week quiz that deals with what is learned that week as well as concepts from previous weeks. At home, students need to be working on multiplication facts. This will help them in several areas of math.

Academic Lab:

In Academic Lab, your child should be using this time to get work completed from other classes, reading, or completing a packet that I have given them. (Packets are given when work is completed and they come to class with nothing to do.) Planners will be checked each day and teacher signature will be placed at bottom of that day’s column. They will be given points for doing this. If filling out the planner becomes an issue, teachers will be asked to sign the appropriate class as well as parents’ signature.
