Life Skills/Academic Lab Mrs. LaRoe Ext 439 mlaroe@hallsville.org

Life Skills

First let me start by saying thank you for all the thoughts and prayers during this time of loss for my family. I really appreciated them.

In Math, we are working on addition/subtraction with one group, another group is focusing on multiplication, and the third group is working on number recognition. In Science, we are finishing our plant and animal unit. The kids have split into two groups to design a forest or desert poster including plants and animals.

In reading, we are each working at our level on skills we need to develop. In addition, Library day is Monday, so make sure your student brings back their library books. In writing, we are working getting our thoughts down. One group has spelling words with a test on Fridays. Another group is working on sight word recognition.

In Social Studies, we are working on community helpers and jobs in the community. Job skills/study skills, we have been playing various games to work on our ability to ask questions, follow directions, and take turns.

Academic Lab-we are working on assignments for Math, History, Science, English, and Reading. I am also stressing organization Ask your student what homework they have even on weekends, because 50 minutes is not always enough time to complete assignments.

Math/Academic Lab Mrs. Hughes Ext 447 JHughes@hallsville.org

Math:

In Math, we have been working on Pre-Algebra concepts. We are talking about patterns using shapes as well as numbers. There will be a quiz this Friday. Also, students need to be working on multiplication facts. This will help them in several areas of math.

Academic Lab:

In Academic Lab, your child should be using this time to get work completed from other classes, reading, or completing a packet that I have given them. (Packets are given when work is completed and they come to class with nothing to do.) Planners will be checked each day and teacher signature will be placed at bottom of that day’s column. They will be given points for doing this. If filling out the planner becomes an issue, teachers will be asked to sign the appropriate class
