Social Studies Mrs. Sides Ext 440 RSides@hallsville.org

Students have a vocabulary quiz on Thursday, October 4. We have made flash cards for them to practice and study at home! I will be handing out review questions over the 13 colonies and students will have a 13 Colonies Quiz on Monday, October 8. If you have any questions, contact me!

Science Mr. Hague Ext 453 CHague@hallsville.org

We have started the week out by taking a look at the circulatory systems of other animals in our environment and how they may be similar or different than our own. There is a good chance of a pop quiz this week, so it would be a good idea to be going over the notes each evening at home. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions or concerns. Mr. Hague

Math Mrs. Haes Ext 448 RHaes@hallsville.org

In Math we continue to work our way through the basic operations of decimals. We will also cover scientific notation and the metric system. The last Homework Quiz for the quarter will be Friday, October 5th. Those individuals wishing to improve their grade on the test over chapter one may do so until Friday, October 5th, at 4:00.

We are continuing with The Giver. This will take us through the next two weeks in class. The students will have reading to do almost every night from the book. Reminder that book #2 for the students is due October 11th for 50 points. Please let me know if you have any questions.

Reading Mrs. Pemberton Ext 487 JPembert@hallsvill.org

We are wrapping up Charlotte's Web this week. The students will be taking their Reading Counts test next Monday and their big written test next Tuesday. We will be watching the movie starting next Wednesday and probably finishing up on Friday.

Have a Great Week!

*My advisory class, keep brining in your box tops, every little bit helps.

Special Services Mrs. Fadler Ext 438 Pfadler@hallsville.org

In reading, we are finishing our literature sets and will be working on final projects for our units: Island in 1st hour, Frindle in 3rd hour and Bud, Not Buddy in 6th hour. We are also working in the Wilson’s Reading System step 2 and 3. We are continuing with Vocabulary and Spelling packets in English, with the packets due on Friday as well as the test on Friday too.

We go to the library every other week and your child has 2 book reports due by October 11th. This is only a week away, so please make sure they are on track with them. They have several options and cannot use the books we read together in class. Encourage your child to read and get their reports done.

If you have questions, please contact me. My room is #23 and my extension is #438.

PRIDE Communication Arts Mrs. Wilson Ext kwilson@hallsville.org

Students are learning some new reading and writing vocabulary. Some of the words we're working on are Idioms, Antagonist/Protagonist, and Personification. We will have a review assessment next Tuesday, October 9. Wednesday is Newspaper Day. Every Wednesday we read the newspaper and define and identify various newspaper elements. Some words your child should already know are: headline, byline, caption, and editorials.

In our classes, we are still working on our reading and writing skills. In Science, we are still learning about healthy life styles. In History, we are learning about why people work and where the money goes. We are also learning about the four directions (top/bottom/left/right and north/south/east/west). In math, we were starting a money unit and did not due to illnesses; we hope to get that started this week. In Job skills, we filled the soda machine.

We try to visit the library every Monday to check out books and magazines. The kids have a tub in the classroom they leave the library materials in for the week. If you would like to have them come home, just drop me a note.

In academic lab, we are still working on completing homework and organizing. I am going to start requiring that the planners be filled out daily for 25 points a week (5 core subjects=1 point a day for each class times 5 days) plus 5 points for parent signature daily.

Math/Academic Lab Mrs. Hughes Ext 447 JHughes@hallsville.org

Math: In Math, we have been finished working on patterns. This week we are going to talk about points on a grid. Students have a quiz on Friday that deals with this as well as multiplication facts quiz.

Academic Lab: In Academic Lab, your child should be using this time to get work completed from other classes, reading, or completing a packet that I have given them. They will be given points for doing this.

PE Coach Pemberton/King Ext 320 Cpembert@hallsville.org
