Reading - Some of us are recognizing sight words in our reading. While others are being challenged to read and comprehend by answering various style questions on the reading assignment.
Math -Each student is working at their level. Some are still working on number recognition, while others are working on larger numbers into the hundred thousands.
Science -We are working on our unit on Earth Science and will continue with it over the next few weeks.
Social Studies -We are learning about rules versus laws and the impact on our lives.
Job Skills and Academic Skills -In Job Skills we are going to start working on paperwork and applications to get us ready to apply for jobs, housing, etc. In Academic skills, the focus is still on completing assigned homework by teachers, organizing, and reading books for the various classes. The assignment book is still a huge part of the grade this quarter, so make sure you and your child are checking it ou t.
Math: We have been working on the Pre-Algebra concepts of solving problems that involve order of operations. There will be a quiz this Friday. Also, students need to be working on multiplication facts. They will have a timed multiplication quiz on Wednesday. They will have 40 problems to do in 3 minutes.
Academic Lab: Your child should be using this time to get work completed from other classes, reading, or completing a packet that I have given them. Planners will be checked each day and teacher signature will be placed at bottom of that day’s column. They are receiving grades for filling them out. This can hurt their grade is they do not fill them out.
