We are finishing up our Revolutionary War Unit this week. Students will be given a set of study guide questions on Wednesday, Dec. 19 and their test will be Thursday, December 20. This test will also include their Revolutionary War vocabulary words that I handed out a couple of weeks ago. I also handed out a list of missing assignments to each student. All make-up work is due to me on Thursday, December 20 by 3:30 for partial credit. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me! Happy Holidays!
This week we are wrapping up the body systems and the semester. The last system that we are taking a look at this week is the Digestive System. We will take a quiz over it later in the week, but no major test to conflict with the other classes. There will be opportunities for points every day this week, and on Monday they were given an extra credit opportunity. It is important that they do all they can to get as many points as possible this last week of the semester. Have a wonderful Holiday and I look forward to seeing you in 2008.
This week we are reviewing fractions and measurements. Map a Town project is due Thursday. It can certainly be turned in early. We will be in the computer lab on Thursday. Have a wonderful Christmas break.
We wrote plays in groups of 4 or 5 students on different topics the students were assigned. The students presented to the class on Monday. Book #2 is due on Thursday for 50 points. Book #1 (if not completed) can still be taken until Friday for 25 points. The students should have an extra credit assignment coming home over the holidays, it would be a great way to start off the new semester. Please let us know if you have any questions and have a relaxing break!
The students are re-taking their Reading Concepts test for at least a 70%. We are also going to be taking our SRI (Scholastic Reading Inventory) before we go on break to see if each student increased their reading level. We are wrapping up our short stories and next week. We will be reading and working on some holiday lessons. Have a Great Holiday! Mrs. Pemberton
Holiday Party: We will be watching Home Alone and having snacks in my room for the students. They reached their 100 good behavior points!
My Advisory: Don't forget to bring in your box tops! Mrs. Pemberton
Book reports for this quarter will be due on Wednesday, December 19 th. Each student is required to read two books at their level or approved by me and do a book report from the list. They cannot repeat a report style or book they have already used and they cannot use the book we are reading in class as one of the readings. If you have questions, please contact me. My room is #23 and my extension is #438.
This week students are making corrections to their Unit Work. They must have a 70% on this unit, if they do not, the packet will be handed back and be homework until it is finished. Friday and Monday was spent reading about Christmas traditions. Tuesday and Wednesday will be spent in the computer lab playing reading and writing games for those finished with their class work. Grades will be taken on the computer games, this is an educational activity that is fun! Thursday we are writing letters to soldiers injured in the line of duty and Friday is Movie Day for those with enough merits! Have a VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS and HAPPY NEW YEAR!!
Since Thanksgiving, we have been working on preparing and setting up for our 2nd Annual Teacher Appreciation Holiday Celebration. The kids have made cookies from scratch this year (chocolate chip and no bake). They made rice krispie treats and colored them in honor of the holiday. They made chocolate dipped pretzels, cinnamon ornaments, cheesey onions, cheese balls, and many other items I am sure I am forgetting.
In addition, our gift exchange and party will be Friday. Thursday each child drew a name of a person to purchase a $5 gift. If you have any questions or problems let me know.
