Summer School

Summer School 2020

The Hallsville School District is excited to offer in-seat summer school for incoming kindergarten through 8th-grade students. Hallsville High School will provide online summer school providing several options for students to receive high school credit and therefore continue on-track for graduation.  As we continue to move forward with a traditional in-seat summer school, the safety and wellness of our students and staff continue to be our number one priority. The following are health guidelines we will follow to increase the safety of students and staff:

  • We are limiting the number of students in each classroom to provide adequate spacing. Students (K-8) will remain in their homeroom throughout the day.

  • We are rearranging desks to increase space in between students.

  • We will practice social distancing as much as we are able to and is possible. Teachers will be encouraged to limit students' contact.  For example, not having the class gather on a carpet or limit close proximity group activities.

  • We will have a nurse on campus to provide additional health support.

  • Sick students or staff must remain at home.

  • Parents/guardians are encouraged to monitor their child’s temperature and keep them home if they have 100.0 or greater.

  • Students will have breakfast and lunch in their classroom.

  • Custodians will be doing extra cleaning and disinfecting in classrooms and bathrooms.

  • Buses will be disinfected between each AM & PM routes.

  • Students will have frequent breaks to wash hands during the day.

  • Hand sanitizer stations have been installed in various locations within the building.  More stations will be installed as supplies come in.

  • Water fountains will be closed. The district will provide reusable water bottles (K-5)  that will stay at school and be disinfected, or students may bring water bottles from home. Middle school students are highly encouraged to bring water bottles or reusable water containers. All schools have water bottle filling stations.

  • District playgrounds and libraries will be closed.  Administrators are actively working on creating opportunities for students to have physical activity breaks and access to library materials to check-out.

  • Students will be allowed to wear masks; however, they must be provided by the parent or guardian. Mask care procedures must be taught at home.

  • Staff will be encouraged to wear masks, especially when working in close proximity with students and when social distancing guidelines do not allow.

  • We will prohibit the sharing of school supplies. All supplies needed will be provided by the classroom teacher or a supply list will be provided to families prior to summer school starting.

  • Due to the unique circumstance, we will not offer attendance rewards such as gift cards at the end of summer school.

  • Visitors and parents are discouraged from being in the building during summer school.
