February 18th, 2008
Jennifer Blumer, Co-Chair , called the meeting to order at 7:00 pm.
Present were: Laura Kabrick and Penny Fadler
Treasurer’s Report: Penny Fadler did not have a copy, will e-mail to Laura later.
Minutes: Minutes from the January 14th 2008 were approved.
Laura mentioned the email from Sally Blakemore thanking PTO for their funding of the 3rd grade field trip to EarthWorks.
Principal Reports: none
Committee Reports:
Box Tops: Annette Tessaro, absent. Boxtop campaign ends March 7th. Will need to send a reminder.
Pastries for Parents: Laura Kabrick
reported for Annette Tessaro that the event was
successful. Annette created a report
with the amount of doughnuts, juice, coffee and milk
ordered and consumed for each grade.
This should serve as a guideline for next year. It was suggested that the Pre-K be combined
with the Kindergarten event, as Pre-K wasn’t well attended. The Pre-K event could be held near the Pre-K
rooms. Annette reports that we spent a
little over $260.00 on the event. Laura
will forward the report to Penny to put in her files.
Candy-grams: Laura Kabrick reported that the Valentine Candy Grams did great! We sold over 1000 candy-grams. A note needs to be made that this is a huge candy-gram event. The middle school sold twice as many as they usually do (over 200 units).
Middle School Party: Penny Fadler, reported that the Middle School Dance was successful. They had a good group of parents to organize and chaperone the event and she reported that the students had a good time.
By-Laws: Laura Kabrick reported that the committee met twice and formulated a rough draft of the PTO by-laws. She distributed the by-laws and will post them on the web for comment by membership. Membership will need to vote on it at the March meeting.
a. March Election Forum Meeting: Jennifer Blumer reported on the planning for the March 17th meeting. She stated that there are several folks running for Hallsville R-IV school board and also for Hallsville Mayor. She will contact the candidates to see if there is interest in participating in a forum to discuss their positions. She will ask Sherri Briedwell and Suzanne Stillwell for assistance in planning this event. She also stated that we would have a brief PTO business meeting after this event.
b. Staff Appreciation Week: Laura Kabrick stated that she would try to find someone to chair a committee to plan the events of the week. She stated that she had a volunteer to provide lunch for the staff in the Primary building.
