These children are served within a developmentally appropriate preschool program focusing on individual needs. Children who are eligible for the program are children who have special needs and have been evaluated and are on an Individualized Education Plan (IEP). Children who have been screened by Parents As Teachers (PAT) and identified to have mild-moderate concerns in any of the following areas: health, motor (fine or gross), social/emotional/ behavioral, speech, language, cognitive, and adaptive may also be considered eligible for the program the following school year. (To schedule a PAT developmental screening for your child please contact the Elementary Office.) The Early Childhood Program has two sessions, morning and afternoon. The morning class serves children from 3-5 years of age. The morning session meets Monday-Thursday 7:50-10:50 am and children attend 1-4 days a week, depending on their individual needs. The afternoon session meets Monday-Thursday 11:50-2:50 pm with all children attending 4 days a week with early release days on Wednesdays at 1:45. The kids in the afternoon are eligible for Kindergarten the following fall. The preschool program provides hands on learning experiences within developmentally appropriate curriculum.
