Welcome! The purpose of summer school is to provide enrichment opportunities, offer exploratory classes, and remediate deficiencies in required courses. Summer School also offers courses that may not be available during the traditional school year in areas that are needed by and/or of interest to the student. We are excited about the wide range of coursework offered this year. We believe the activities are truly student-centered, creative and challenging. Teachers have been developing classes to engage students in interactive activities that promote, build upon and further develop critical thinking skills. We look forward to a highly successful and rewarding summer school program.
Hallsville's Summer Program is dependent upon state funding. If at any point, support for summer school is cut from the state budget, we regret that we would not be able to hold summer school this summer. We want parents and students to be aware of this and have a contingency plan in place in case this happens.

No, Hallsville R-IV does not pay students for attending our program. We do have attendance incentives which are taylored to motivate students according to age level. Students who attend the full summer school day will earn rewards for perfect attendance each week. |
Perfect attendance is being present all day, every day, no tardies, no absences, no excuses. |
Students will be granted an excused absence from a parent or doctor's note so that work may be made up, but any absence of any part of a school day is still counted on attendance. |
High School students may only miss three class sessions. Any additional absences result in loss of credit. However, in the younger grades, state attendance requirement for credit do not apply as they do in High School. Students in K-8 classes should follow the recommendaitons of the current classroom teacher and building principal for attendance requirements based on academic needs of each student. |
The summer school curriculum is a concentrated 4-week program. To be able to gain the most benefit from the summer program, students should miss no more than 3 days of summer school. However, we recognize that other summer experiences are of value to students and are sometimes unavoidable. Parents of students in K-8 classes who are going to miss more than 3 consecutive days should notify the school in advance so that decisions can be made in the best interest of each student's educational needs. |
