The Early Childhood Special Education

The Early Childhood Special Education Program provides services to children ages 3-5 with disabilities. To be eligible for the program, children must meet federal eligibility criteria and go through an evaluation process.  If the criteria are met, the team will place the child into the special education program and write an Individualized Education Program (IEP).

Children can also qualify for preschool by being placed in the at-risk category.  Students will be screened by the preschool team to determine if they qualify in the  “at-risk range.”  At-risk means they would benefit from a program that can provide early intervention to help them be successful when they enter kindergarten.

The special education services provided by the Hallsville Early Childhood Special Education Program include classroom teachers, speech and language therapists, occupational and physical therapists, and teacher assistants.  Consultant services for hearing impaired and visually impaired students are also available. A child must qualify for these services through the evaluation process and the IEP team determines the number of services during the IEP meeting.
