HALLSVILLE BOARD OF EDUCATION SELECTS NEW SUPERINTENDENT

The Hallsville Board of Education is pleased to announce the selection of Mr. Tyler Walker to be the next superintendent of the Hallsville School District, starting on July 1, following the retirement of Superintendent John Downs on June 30.

The Hallsville Board of Education used feedback from students, staff, and community members to help guide them during this process.

"With the assistance of our superintendent search firm, EGL, we've diligently sought the next leader for Hallsville Schools, and in Mr. Walker, we've found an exceptional candidate," shared Board President Bryan Wildenhain. "With his superintendent's background and skill set, we are confident he is the right person to lead our District and build upon the strong foundation that has been laid in Hallsville. He will continue implementing our vision to 'Improve lives through learning.'"

Mr. Walker has served as the Higbee R-VIII School District Superintendent in Higbee, Missouri, for the past three years.  During Mr. Walker’s educational career, he served four years as a K-12 At-Risk Coordinator and social studies teacher and four years as a K-12 principal.

Under Mr. Walker's leadership, the Higbee R-VIII School District has seen an increase in academic achievement and the successful completion of a $1.4 million facility construction project.  In addition, he has overseen the district’s operating budget and strategic planning for district continuous improvement.  He is a member of the Missouri Association of School Administrators and serves as the Central Missouri Administrators Association President for the 2023-2024 school year.

Mr. Walker is pursuing his Doctorate in Educational Leadership from William Woods University.  He holds an Educational Leadership Specialist Degree and a master’s degree in Education Administration from William Woods University, as well as a Bachelor of Science in Secondary History Education from Missouri State University.

“I am honored to be selected as the next superintendent of the Hallsville School District,” shares Walker, “and I look forward to my family and me being a part of the community. The district is well-respected and has a history of strong academics and extracurricular offerings.  I am eager to be a part of a district full of great students and educators. I look forward to working with the Board of Education, faculty, staff, students, and community to continue moving Hallsville Schools in a positive direction.”
