Summer School
The Hallsville School District offers a variety of summer learning opportunities designed to support students and keep them engaged throughout the summer months. Programs are available for students entering grades 1–12, as well as incoming kindergarten students through our Kindergarten Jumpstart program. Summer school provides continued academic learning, enrichment activities, transportation options for most programs, and daily meal services for participating students.
Below you will find important information about each summer program, including dates, schedules, registration details, transportation, and meal services.

Kindergarten Jumpstart is a half-day morning program for students entering kindergarten in the fall of 2026. There are two sessions for families to enroll in. For each session, the class will be from 8:30 to 11:15 a.m. Doors open at 8:05 a.m.
Kindergarten Jumpstart Sessions:
- Session I: Wednesday, June 3 through Friday, June 12, 8:30 a.m. - 11:15 a.m.
- Will follow the traditional Tuesday through Friday schedule, with school starting on Wednesday, June 3.
- Session II: Tuesday, June 16 through Friday, June 26, 8:30 a.m. - 11:15 a.m.

Transportation:
- Transportation is not avilable for student enrolled in Kindergarten Jumpstart. The doors open at 8:05 a.m. each morning for student drop-off, and students are dismissed at 11:15 a.m.
Meal Services:
- Breakfast is served daily from 8:05 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. Lunch is not provided. More information on Free & Reduced Meal Applican can be found online.

Summer school is offered Tuesday through Friday for students entering 1st - 12th grade June 2, 2026, through June 26, 2026, School will not be in session on Friday, June 19, in observance of Juneteenth. Summer school runs from 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., with doors opening at 8:05 a.m. each day.

Transportation:
- Summer school provides transportation services similar to those during the regular school year. Pick-up and drop-off, routes, and schedules will be determined after summer school registration is complete. The bus routes with estimated times will be sent home once we receive all replies and determine the summer bus route needs. Students are only allowed to ride the bus that they are assigned to.
Meal Services:
- Breakfast is served daily from 7:05 a.m. to 8:30 a.m., and lunch is available for students during the school day. Menus will be provided before the first day of summer school. If your child qualified for free and reduced prices during the regular school year, they will also qualify during summer school.

Classes:
The summer school day will follow the same schedule length as last year. Students will participate in five class blocks each day. One block will be dedicated to combined ELA and math instruction for all students, while the remaining four blocks will consist of elective courses.
Students will have the opportunity to select and rank their elective preferences, allowing them to explore areas of interest while continuing to strengthen their literacy and math skills. The schedule will also include designated time for students to spend outdoors and interact with their peers.
