School Counseling Program
The School Counseling program is an integral part of the total education program for Hallsville Schools. The program follows the Missouri Comprehensive School Counseling Program Model guidelines set forth by the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education. The program is developmental by design and includes sequential activities organized and implemented by certified professional school counselors with the support of teachers, administrators, students, and parents. The district’s school counseling program includes a school counseling curriculum, individual planning, responsive services, and system support.

School-Based Resources (On Campus)
Our district partners with several trusted community agencies to provide mental and behavioral health services right here on campus, helping remove barriers and make support more accessible for students and families. Through partnerships with Burrell Behavioral Health, Compass Health Network, Boone County Schools Mental Health Coalition (FACE), and the MU Bridge Program, students can access services such as individual therapy, skill-building, crisis response, psychiatric evaluations, and connections to additional community resources. All services require parent or guardian permission and completion of consent paperwork before they can begin. These school-based supports allow us to partner closely with families to ensure students receive timely, coordinated care in a familiar and supportive setting.

Burrell provides on-campus individual therapy and skill-building services to support students experiencing emotional or behavioral challenges. When needed, students may also be connected to case management services. Medicaid is accepted at no cost to families; other services are billed through insurance. Services begin with a referral from the school counselor and completion of required paperwork, followed by an initial evaluation and ongoing progress meetings.
-
Compass offers individual therapy services at school, along with connections to additional community-based supports as needed. Services are provided at no cost to families through funding from the Children’s Services Board. A signed consent form and completed paperwork are required before services begin.
-
FACE connects students and families with school-based mental health support, including individual student sessions, crisis response, parent interventions, small group support, and links to community resources. Services are funded by the Children’s Services Board and are provided at no cost to families. Signed informed consent is required, and parent participation is strongly encouraged to support student success.
-
The MU Bridge Program provides psychiatric evaluations and treatment for school-age children experiencing emotional or behavioral health concerns. Appointments are held at the Primary School or via Zoom and are provided at no cost to families. A parent or guardian must attend each appointment alongside their child.
