The Hallsville School District proudly congratulates Secondary Choir Teacher Mrs. Susan Lewis on being named Hallsville Educator of the Year by the Hallsville Chamber of Commerce.
Each year, the Chamber recognizes an educator who demonstrates exceptional dedication and service to the district. Mrs. Lewis, who joined Hallsville in 2017 and has been teaching for 10 years, continues to inspire students through her leadership of the middle and high school choir programs.
One nomination described her as “the heart and soul of the Hallsville middle and high school choir program,” highlighting her tireless commitment to helping students prepare for Honor Choirs, Solo and Ensemble contests, musicals, and community performances. From early mornings to late rehearsals, Mrs. Lewis’s passion for music education shines through in every note her students sing. The district thanks Mrs. Lewis for embodying Hallsville’s mission of improving lives through learning and for making a lasting impact through her creativity, dedication, and love of teaching.
The Chamber will honor Mrs. Lewis at the 2025 Annual Awards Banquet on Monday, December 1, at the Hallsville Community Center. Reservations can be made in advance at Hallsville City Hall.

Each year, the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) releases an Annual Performance Report (APR) for every district in Missouri. The APR measures performance under the Missouri School Improvement Plan (MSIP) 6, which sets expectations for school practices and student outcomes to ensure every student graduates ready for college, career, and life success.
The Hallsville School District earned an 84.6% on the 2024–2025 Annual Performance Report, an increase from 79.5 % the previous year. The district’s three-year composite score now stands at 81.9% , reflecting steady growth and continued commitment to excellence.
“Our staff continues to demonstrate a strong focus on student achievement and improvement across all grade levels,” said Assistant Superintendent Julie Esquivel. “We are encouraged by the upward trends in English Language Arts and Science, and the consistent success of our students in graduation and postsecondary readiness measures. These results reflect the daily dedication of our teachers, leaders, and support staff in providing high-quality instruction that improves lives through learning.”
Mrs. Esquivel will provide an overview of the Annual Performance Report at the Board of Education meeting on Wednesday, November 19, at 6:00 p.m. in the Hallsville Primary School cafeteria.

The Hallsville community has once again shown strong support for our students and schools. Voters approved Proposition 2 and the continuation of the four-day school week on the November 4 ballot, affirming the district’s commitment to improving facilities, recruiting and retaining high-quality educators, and enhancing learning opportunities for all students.
With the passage of Proposition 2, the Hallsville School District will move forward with Phase 2 of its facility master plan, focusing on student safety, supporting growing enrollment, and creating more flexible, student-centered spaces. Monthly updates will be provided on the district's website.
The community’s approval of the four-day school week enables the district to maintain its current calendar structure for up to the next ten years, subject to Board of Education approval. Adopted in 2022, the four-day school week has helped attract and retain experienced teachers, as well as provide consistent instructional time.

Tonight is opening night for Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, and we can’t wait to see everyone there cheering on our cast and crew!
Set in the rugged Oregon wilderness of 1850, the story follows the bold and boisterous Adam Pontipee and his six rowdy brothers—mountain men who discover they might just need a woman’s touch to turn their wild lives around. When Adam brings home his spirited new wife, Milly, she sets out to transform the uncivilized bunch into proper gentlemen. But when love (and a little mischief) enters the mix, chaos and comedy ensue in the most heartwarming way!

Below is information on upcoming food pantry dates and community food resources that may be helpful for planning during the busy holiday months.
The Hallsville Food Pantry is typically open on the fourth Tuesday of each month at Hallsville Baptist Church, located at 115 Elizabeth Street. Due to the holidays, the November and December dates have been adjusted. The pantry will be open on Tuesday, November 18, and Tuesday, December 16, from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. While appointments aren’t required, giving us a quick call at 573-340-3623 helps us plan and make sure we have enough supplies for everyone.
Red Top Christian Church, 14355 N. Rt. U, also has a Blessing Box at the shelter house with non-perishable items and canned goods. Community members are welcome to take what they need or leave what they can.
You can find additional food pantries and resources throughout Boone County on the Daniel Boone Regional Library website.

Hallsville Intermediate School and Hallsville Primary School are hosting a Hallsville spirit wear fundraiser! All proceeds will benefit students and staff at both schools. The online store is open from now through Wednesday, December 10. Items for primary and intermediate students will be delivered to the school in early December and sent home with students.
Please put your child’s name, grade, and teacher in the comments when checking out online.
Families also have the option to pick up items at Shirtworx Ink in town! During checkout, use the “Ship My Order” button, and you will have the option to pick up. All items use the Hallsville logos and are not building-specific. We encourage our students to wear purple and gold on Fridays, and this is a great opportunity to stock up on some spirit wear! Thank you, Shirtworx Ink, for this fundraising opportunity!

The Hallsville PTO strives to be active within our schools and looks forward to another successful year of events and being able to provide support to Hallsville Schools. The PTO holds two annual events per year, the fall fundraiser and Trivia Night in February. These annual events help support activities and scholarships and allow the PTO to purchase large and small-scale items for students, teachers, and buildings. In addition, the PTO hosts smaller family events throughout the year.
If you are interested in learning more about the PTO, including ways to volunteer, please sign up for the PTO ParentSquare group below!
