Four-Day School Week Vote

FOUR-DAY SCHOOL WEEK VOTE

Frequently Asked Questions

  • "Shall the school board of Hallsville R-IV School District adopt the provisions of Section 171.028, RSMo, establishing a four-day school week for the next ten years in the district of __________?"

    ☐ YES ☐ NO

  • The Missouri legislature changed the law through SB 727, which requires any school district located wholly or partially in a charter county or a city of more than 30,000 residents to seek voter approval for a four-day school week. Because approximately 235 acres of the City of Columbia fall inside Hallsville’s district boundaries, we must comply with this requirement. This law removes local control from our Board of Education.

Surrounding four-day districts, Harrisburg and Sturdeon, are not located in a charter county or a large city, and do not have to hold an election.

  • Under Section 171.028, RSMo, the four-day school week question passes with a majority of votes cast. In other words, more than half of voters (50% plus one) must mark “Yes” on the ballot for the measure to be approved.

  • All Boone County voters can absentee vote at the Government Center between:
    October 21, 2025 - November 3, 2025

    Election Day:
    November 4, 2025
