We are excited to announce that Hallsville High School will celebrate Homecoming 2024 with a vibrant "Glow for the Gold" theme inspired by the Olympics and neon colors.
The festivities will kick off with a lively parade at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, October 4th. We encourage the community to come out and line the streets to cheer on our Indian Pride Marching Band, cheerleaders, football players, and all the class and activity floats. Later that evening, join us at 7:00 p.m. as our Hallsville Indians football team takes on School of the Osage under the neon lights. Coronation will take place at halftime that evening.
Hallsville High School Student Council also hosts the Homecoming Dance on Saturday, October 5, from 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. for high school students.

Parade Route
The Homecoming Parade is scheduled for Friday, October 4, at 1:30 p.m. Floats will exit from the back of Hallsville Primary School and turn right onto North Street, then right onto Wesley Avenue, and left onto Highway 124, left onto Elizabeth Street, then left onto Highway 124 and end at the front of Hallsville Primary School. |

The Hallsville School District is excited to have our athletic complex open to Hallsville community members. While our school athletic events and classes have priority on using the track and football field, we welcome residents to use our facilities from sun up to sun down. All guests should enter the facility through the admission gate. To rent the facility, please read more on our district website.
Please respect our facility by not bringing the following items onto the track or field:
- Bikes, strollers, or skates
- Alcohol, tobacco, or chewing gum products
- Food on the track or field
- Dogs & other pets
- Sunflower seeds

Congratulations to Hallsville Intermediate School for earning the Missouri Schoolwide Positive Behavior Support Award of Excellence! This prestigious award recognizes their exceptional implementation of PBIS across all levels: Universal (Tier 1), Targeted (Tier 2), and Intensive (Tier 3).

The Hallsville School District hosted its first Safety Meeting of the year on Thursday, September 19. The meeting, open to staff, families, and students, addressed the district’s CSIP Goal of Excellent Schools, specifically Improvement Objective 2.1.2: Providing a safe environment where students can focus on academic learning. Topics included reviewing safety plans, current training and programs, and additional subjects raised by attendees. You can view notes from the meeting here. |

S.M. Wilson has completed the 2022-2024 Bond project. The Board approved Change Order #17, which returns the unspent construction funds to the District. The amount returned to the district is $102,923.39.The Board also approved pay application #17.During the September Board of Education meeting, Architectural and Engineering firm Klingner & Associates was in attendance to discuss the following items:
Stadium Concourse Design Proposal : The Board approved Klingner’s design fees for the stadium concourse construction, which potentially includes paving the concourse area around the existing grandstand, concession building, and a portion of the aggregate parking. Stadium Locker Room: The Board approved the stadium locker room floor plan as presented by Klingner. Pre-Bond Support Proposal: The district intends to pursue an April 2025 bond issue for various potential capital improvement projects on the campus. To aid in defining the capital improvement project scope, the district asked Klingner to provide Professional Architectural and Engineering (A/E) design services related to the development of conceptual project development drawings and renderings during the pre-bond issue election period. The board approved the proposal.

Below are highlights of items discussed during the open session Board of Education meeting on Wednesday, September 18. An agenda for the meeting can be found here when available . The Hallsville Board of Education will hold its next regular session meeting on Wednesday, October 16, at 6:00 p.m. in the Hallsville Primary School cafeteria.
RECOGNITIONS
Hallsville Intermediate School was recognized for earning the Missouri Schoolwide Positive Behavior Support Award of Excellence! This prestigious award recognizes their exceptional implementation of PBIS across all levels: Universal (Tier 1), Targeted (Tier 2), and Intensive (Tier 3).
The district’s Special Education Department has been recognized for its program review conducted by DESE’s Office of Special Education. DESE stated that no systematic noncompliance issues were identified during the progress of the Tiered Monitoring review. As a result, the district's Special Education Department is in compliance with all State and Federal regulations, and no corrective actions are required. This acknowledgment is a testament to our district's special education department's hard work and dedication to meeting the needs of all students while maintaining compliance with state and federal standards.
Amy Bartlett was recognized for receiving a $500 grant from the Missouri Retired Teachers Foundation. Mrs. Bartlett will host a family science night for 3rd-5th grade families during the second semester.
TUITION FOR NONRESIDENTS
Each year, the Board sets tuition rates for students who reside outside the district. Our tuition rate for 2023-2024 was $9,303 per full-time nonresident student. The Department of Elementary and Secondary Education reported expenditures per pupil at $9,845.03, based on the 2024 Annual Secretary of the Board Report for the Hallsville School District. The Board approved the 2024-25 tuition increase to $9,846 annually for full-time nonresident students.
DISTRICT ASSESSMENT PLAN
The district assessment plan serves as a general guide to implementing student testing within the district. It is reviewed annually and approved by the Board of Education each year.
READING SUCCESS PLANS
The Missouri Read, Lead, Exceed initiative is an effort by DESE to enhance literacy education throughout the state of Missouri. One element of this initiative is the implementation of Reading Success Plans. These plans are mandated by Missouri legislation (Section 167.645, RSMo), which requires school districts to develop Reading Success Plans for all students in grades K-3, as well as any newly enrolled 4th or 5th grader who is one or more grade levels behind in their Lexile score or any of the five essential reading areas: phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension. Last year, teams of teachers and administrators at both the Primary and Intermediate schools developed procedures for assessment, intervention, progress monitoring, documentation, and family communication. Based on feedback from the first year of implementation, adjustments were made at the start of this year, and plans will continue until students meet exit criteria. Additionally, a team of teachers and administrators at the middle school adapted these procedures for students transitioning from 5th to 6th grade who continue to qualify for a Reading Success Plan.
FACILITY MASTER PLAN
The Board approved the Facility Master Plan. This plan guides long-term decisions for maintaining and improving school buildings to ensure they meet student needs and support educational goals. It outlines priorities for upgrades, repairs, and future projects based on community input and district resources.
HMS CROSS COUNTRY
The Board has approved the addition of middle school cross country starting in the 2025-26 school year. Currently, there is an Optimist cross country team and a high school team. Adding a middle school team will help bridge community youth programs with school-sponsored athletics. |

Hallsville Youth Basketball Association (HYBA) 5th & 6th Grade
Registration is now open for 5th and 6th grade basketball through the Hallsville Youth Basketball Association (HYBA). The attached registration form and payment can be dropped off at school or mailed to 12795 N Route B, Hallsville, MO 65255. Please make checks payable to Hallsville Youth Basketball Association or HYBA. All registrations must be completed by October 11, 2024.
4-H Hallsville Go-Getters'
The Hallsville Go-Getters' first meeting of the year is Monday, October 7, at 6:30 p.m. in the Bob Lemone Building. Even if you are not signed up for the New 4-H Year yet, join them at their first meeting, where they will share important information. Registration is open from October 1 through October 31.

Hallsville Trick of Treat
Join the Grow Hallsville Parks Foundation at the 9th Annual Trick or Treat in the Park on Saturday, October 19! The event starts at 4:30 p.m., and there will be free hot dogs and chips, games, and a costume contest. If you would like to help with the event or donate candy, please contact City Hall.
